Derby's Delegates Take City to Foreign Commonwealth Office
Last week, a delegation of Derby's business leaders went to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London to represent the city and demonstrate why Derby is an excellent opportunity for inward investment.
The Derby City Embassy included representatives from Marketing Derby, Rolls-Royce, Bombardier, intu Derby, Smith of Derby, Innes England, Rigby & Co, Derby City Council, as well as many others. In a demonstration of Derby’s business community coming together to further the development of the city, the delegation showcased Derby as the UK Capital for Innovation to outside developers and investors.
The Derby City Embassy is internationally renowned as an award-winning and innovative inward investment event, wherein key contacts are met and business relationships are forged. Embassy events play a pivotal role in securing investment for the city; after the initial contact, the right investors and developers are invited to city to tour key sites.
The event has been arranged in conjunction with Pauline Latham, MP for Mid Derbyshire, and will feature guest speaker Esther McVey, Minister of State for Employment. This is especially apt as Derby has been named a top 10 city for job creation, by Centre for Cities in its annual Outlook report.
