YMCA calls on Bondholders for 2022 Sleep Easy

YMCA Derbyshire is calling on Bondholders to raise funds and awareness for young people at risk of homelessness in the city and county.

For one night only, YMCA Derbyshire is asking businesses in Derbyshire to come together under the stars to raise vital funds in aid of young people at risk of facing homelessness.

On Friday 11th March, businesses, schools and individuals will be joining together at Derbyshire County Cricket Club‘s The Incora County Ground car park to sleep rough for one night so others don’t have to.

While last year was only a virtual-only event, Sleep Easy 2022 will take a hybrid approach, allowing those taking part to choose to join from their homes, or together at the County Ground.

Money raised from the event will go towards enabling YMCA Derbyshire to continue providing vital support to young people through health and wellbeing provisions.

Many young people living at the accommodation on London Road have never had the opportunity to enjoy social activities like football sessions, visiting the cinema/theatre, going bowling or spending time at their own allotments. Funds raised will enable the charity’s health and wellbeing team to provide these experiences.

Donations will also go towards therapeutic counselling for those who feel like they could benefit from more support.

YMCA Derbyshire’s Sleep Easy will take place between 7pm and 6am, with hot drinks and snacks provided. The team will also provide a cardboard box to sleep in and attendees are advised to wrap up in plenty of layers!

“We know from experience over the last two years, without our community and the support of those around us, we would have found it even more difficult.

“We’re calling on our community again this year to help us continue our vital services to young people and those most in need. Please join us at Sleep Easy 2022. By participating, donating or sponsoring, you will directly impact the lives of young people in our city and county.”
