Ward team helps raise thousands for hospice
Metal and waste recycling specialist Ward has supported a campaign to raise funds for a hospice, which provides essential respite for a member of its team and their family.
Min Bawa, senior transport manager at the Derbyshire firm, has two children, Aveena and Nevaiah, who were both born prematurely.
Aveena has cerebral palsy and a brain injury from a bleed at birth. She only has one kidney and as she outgrows that, she will need a transplant.
Nevaiah was starved of oxygen at birth due to complications, which means she has a brain injury.
The family uses the facilities at Rainbows Hospice, at Loughborough, to access respite care.
Min’s wife, Armandeep, began a campaign to raise £1,500 for Rainbows – but thanks to support from the Ward team, this target has been exceeded.
A major boost came in the form of Ward’s Heather Foo, who won a charity business card draw organised by Qualitech Environmental Services, which resulted in a £3,000 donation to the campaign.
