Medal-winning veteran track cyclists have been recognised at a celebration event at Derby Arena.

Mayor of Derby, Councillor Robin Wood, and Councillor Matthew Eyre recently visited the arena to meet veteran track riders and congratulate the World and National Masters Track Championship medal winners.

Congratulating the winners, the mayor thanked them for representing Derby at both events with “spirit and camaraderie”.

Charlotte Parnham and Geoff Cook, who are current National and World Champions, were presented with a Role of Honour, which they accepted on behalf of all the medallists and other competitors.

This plaque will be displayed in Derby Arena, showcasing the achievements of the veteran riders.

Derek Gascoyne, aged 90, was also acknowledged for a lifetime achievement, receiving a Derby Arena jersey for setting up the Super Vets track cycling club, for the over-55s, which he still attends each week.
