University announces sports centre operator
The University of Derby has announced the company that will operate its £10.8 million sports centre.
Leisure operator Everyone Active has been awarded a minimum five-year contract to manage the centre, which opened in 2015.
The centre is a hub for student sport and can be used by members of the public, as well as students and university staff.
Ollie Shearer, director of sport at the University of Derby, said: “We are pleased to be working with Everyone Active.
“The company’s proven experience and knowledge will make a significant contribution to providing an outstanding experience for our students and we are excited to work together over the next five years to provide engaging opportunities for students, staff and the wider community to get the most out of our excellent facilities.”
The Union of Students’ vice-president (Activities), Beth Baxtrem said: “As a recent graduate myself who is now employed to represent the student voice, I believe Everyone Active is absolutely what the students want and need in their sports centre.
“The opportunities and experiences that they will provide look extremely promising and valuable to our students.”
