Trust’s thanks for fund donations
Derventio Housing Trust has thanked all those who donated to a charitable fund set up to help formerly homeless people back on their feet.
According to the housing trust, which is based in Derby, the Sylvester’s Fund appeal saw a high level of donations.
Named after former Derventio Housing Trust resident Sylvester Cichowski, who left the organisation £4,200 in his will, the fund pays for a huge range of one-off practical items – such as paying for replacement birth certificates, workwear and mobile phones.
Jackie Carpenter, assistant director of strategy for Derventio, said: “We were really blown away with the scale of the donations to our Sylvester’s Fund appeal.
“It’s amazing that with the cost of living rising so much, people have been so generous.
“We’d like to thank all those who have donated to our fund – our total has far exceeded last year’s so we’re really pleased. Every penny given will go towards helping out a person who really needs it.”
