Trust appeals to Bondholders for volunteers

An organisation which promotes sustainable access in the Derwent Valley has launched a search for volunteers to fill key roles.

Derwent Valley Trust, which is backed by organisations including Derbyshire County Council, is looking for volunteers experienced in marketing and legal matters.

The marketing role involves promoting the work of the Trust through social media, press releases and updating features on its website.

The legal role involves advising on routine matters of charity law, risk and public responsibility, but any contractual work would be paid for.

The Derwent Valley Trust was set up in 1996 to promote the history, arts, wildlife and leisure opportunities that surround the river Derwent along its 55-mile course through Derbyshire.

Its current projects include the Derwent Valley Heritage Way, an established ten-section walking route from Ladybower reservoir to Shardlow, the proposed Derwent Valley Cycleway – an off highway, multiuser route up the whole valley; and the riverway – a canoe paddle trail back down the Derwent River from the Derwent Dam to Shardlow Inland Port.

Derek Latham, chairman of Derwent Valley Trust, said: “We are seeking someone who is interested in, or supportive of, cycling, walking or paddling, who is legally qualified or experienced in marketing.

“Our marketing post might suit a small practitioner or provide a Corporate Social Responsibility role for a larger organisation.”
