Thousands raised from charity cycle challenge
Thousands of pounds have been raised for the Derbyshire Children’s Holiday Centre from a charity cycle challenge.
The riders who recently took part in the SkegVegas100 event, rode from Derby to Skegness, cycling 100 miles to reach the Lincolnshire seaside resort, where the holiday centre is based.
The centre offer five-day seaside stays in Skegness for children who are nominated because they may not otherwise get a break, due to financial hardship or other reasons.
The money raised is still being counted up, but online donations currently exceed £4,000 and more has been pledged offline.
Alan Grimadell, holiday centre chairman, said: “It was absolutely fabulous to see the SkegVegas100 ride happen again this year.
“We are very grateful to these hardy souls for pedalling their way all the way to Skegness so that we can put smiles on the faces of more children.”
