Themed attraction designer to work on European destination project
International themed attraction design company Katapult has been appointed to work on an ambitious destination project in Sweden.
The Derby firm has been selected by The City of Malmo to create concepts for three new visitor attractions at Folkets Park.
Founded in the late 18th century, the park covers more than 60,000 square metres and attracts over 2.5 million visitors every year.
This year, the park was home to the Eurovision Village as the city hosted the Eurovision competition for the third time.
The city’s ambition is to enhance the park’s attractiveness and sustainability as a regional destination in Northern Europe.
As well as coming up with the visitor attraction concepts, the Katapult team will work alongside LDP and AJP Consultants on the market insights and feasibility studies.
Robbie Jones, insights director at Katapult, said: “We’re hugely excited to be working with such a proactive city to enhance their tourism offer and create must-see destinations in Sweden.
“Their team’s passion and ambition has been inspirational, and we look forward to the challenge of creating unique visitor attraction experiences that drive further desirability, footfall and spend to the city of Malmo.”
Andy Roberts, head of the real estate and street department at Malmo City, said: “We are excited to have Katapult and their team on board to help shape a new vision for Folkets Park.
“Their previous work has inspired us to think more ambitiously and incorporate the distinctive stories that make Malmo special. We’re looking forward to continuing this journey together.”
