Moorways Sports Village, which is owned by Derby City Council, has been shortlisted for national awards, which recognise the best of the physical activity sector.

The centre, which is run by Everyone Active on behalf of the city council, has been shortlisted in the Regional Club/Centre of the Year – Midlands category by the 2024 ukactive Awards.

Moorways will also be considered for the National Club/Centre of the Year award.

The sports village’s state-of-the-art facilities include a 50-metre Olympic-sized pool, which can be split into three pools, an additional teaching pool, water park, two soft plays, a top-of-the-range gym and group fitness studios as well as a sauna and steam room, multi-purpose room and café.

The ukactive Awards are designed to recognise excellence and innovation across health, wellbeing and fitness.

Finalists will now go through to the next stage of the judging process where they will undergo further assessments, including a mystery shop and digital review.

Simon Morgan, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “It’s a huge honour to be shortlisted for the ukactive Awards and this reflects the hard work and dedication the site team has put in over the past year. They have done a fantastic job.

“To be selected as a finalist is an achievement in itself and we’d like to thank all of our members for their ongoing support.”

The regional winners and national champion will be announced at a gala dinner in Birmingham on Thursday 3 October.
