A number of deals have been done in Derby over the past few weeks, with transactions on Pride Park leading the way.

The business park’s newest arrival is housebuilder Casamia Homes, which has made the move to offices in New Park Place following a period of growth for the privately-owned business.

The firm was set up by a number of ex-shareholders, directors and employees from Radleigh Homes, following its sale and acquisition by Redrow in 2017.

George Tyler, land and sales director at Casamia Homes, said: “We are delighted to announce the move to our new Derby-based office on New Park Place on Pride Park.

“Exciting times now lie ahead as we have some great projects in the pipeline, and we look forward to bringing them to the market in the near future.”

Staying on Pride Park, European hotel chain B&B HOTELS has announced it has acquired the Pentahotel, in Locomotive Way.

It is part of a deal which has seen B&B swoop for five hotels nationwide.

Having announced its expansion into the UK in late 2022, the latest additions to the B&B HOTELS UK portfolio follows the launch of its first establishment in the country in February 2024, at Heathrow Terminal 5, and brings its UK portfolio to six hotels.

The five hotels will undertake a period of light renovations over coming months to meet B&B HOTELS specifications but will remain open and operated by current staff.

Fabrice Collet, president and chief executive of B&B HOTELS, said: “This latest takeover of five hotels follows our first hotel at Heathrow Terminal 5 and is an important step in our UK expansion plans – and our global ambition to have 3,000 hotels within 10 years.

“Our successful growth model and commitment to value for our guests have made us a beloved brand across Europe, and we’re excited to bring that same experience to guests in the UK.”

Patrick O’Connell, chief executive of B&B HOTELS UK, said: “This announcement represents an exciting step for our UK presence, with B&B HOTELS becoming part of the community in Birmingham, Ipswich, Inverness, Warrington and Derby.

“We look forward to welcoming guests to our hotels in these locations as we continue to drive forward our expansion into other towns, cities, tourism and leisure hotspots across the United Kingdom.”

Meanwhile, the latest addition to Derbion’s offering will open its doors next week.

The shopping centre is bolstering its value offering with the arrival of leading bargain and variety retailer B&M.

Measuring 25,500 sq ft, the new store, which will offer a range of branded products, including groceries, homeware, toys, DIY and health and beauty, is set to open on Friday 26 July.

Its arrival follows the announcement that more than £5 million is being invested at Derbion in three new concept stores for JD, New Look and Ann Summers.

Beth McDonald, managing director at Derbion, said: “B&M is synonymous with great value.

“We’re committed to offering variety to our customers and it’s fantastic to welcome B&M to our broad range of high street names, premium brands and everything in between.

“The arrival of B&M forms part of our wider evolution designed to maximise opportunities for existing brands alongside new retailers.

“With further new lettings to announce soon, it’s set to be another year of growth for Derbion.”
