East Midlands Railway has launched a new tool on its website that allows customers to access online content and services barrier-free.

Website visitors can now access a wide range of accessibility and language support tools to customise their digital experience through Recite Me assistive technology.

The assistive toolbar, which can be accessed at the top of the homepage or mobile app under ‘accessibility tools’, includes screen reading functionality, multiple reading aids, and customisable styling options.

There is also an on-demand live translation feature that offers over 100 languages, including 65 text-to-speech options.

Philippa Cresswell, customer service director at East Midlands Railway, said: “The internet can be an incredibly intimidating place for those with access barriers, and those lacking the tools they need to adequately understand or communicate are at a significant disadvantage.

“These new tools will help our customers access all the information they require.”
