East Midlands Railway has recognised one of its apprentices for her outstanding commitment to learning and leadership.

Alys Lee, who is a member of the rail operator’s Control team, was recently named the firm’s Apprentice of the Year 2025.

Alys, who works as a duty service delivery manager in Derby, was presented with the prize as part of the company’s work to mark National Apprenticeship Week, which took place earlier this month.

Alongside her current role, she has taken part in the Excelling in Operational Management apprenticeship.

She was nominated by her colleagues, who praised her dedication to making positive changes and her passion for supporting the team.

Alys said: “I’m really grateful to be recognised for my hard work. It means a lot that my colleagues in Control see the impact I’m making.

“This award is a huge confidence boost and motivates me to continue striving for excellence.”
