Print solutions firm Essential Print Services has become the latest Marketing Derby Bondholder to give its backing to Vic Handley as he prepares to embark on an epic rowing challenge.

The Derby firm has joined forces with Vic, from Littleover, who will become the third oldest person at the age of 70 to complete the 3,000-mile solo row across the Atlantic Ocean, known as ‘The World’s Toughest Row’.

The row, which will take him from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean, is set to begin on 12 December and take up to 85 days depending on weather.

As well as being a great personal achievement, Vic hopes to raise £200,000 for four local charities close to his heart – Umbrella, Derby County Community Trust, Safe and Sound and Mind Derbyshire – and boost the profile of the city of Derby.

Yvonne Gorman, managing director at Essential Print Services, said: “Both of us are proud Derbeians and supporting Vic in this remarkable challenge is an honour.

“Vic’s determination and courage are truly inspiring, and his efforts will make a significant difference to local charities that are close to many hearts in Derby.

“We’re thrilled to be a part of this journey, to help raise awareness of Vic’s causes and to support a fellow Bondholder.”

As part of its sponsorship, Essential Print Services is assisting with the promotional materials needed to boost awareness and fundraising efforts for Vic’s campaign.

Vic said: “Having professional-looking literature makes the world of difference when pitching my adventure to businesses.

“Yvonne and her team have supported me right from the start and I cannot thank them enough for their help.”
