Pedal power raises charity cash
Staff at Pennine Healthcare have been using pedal power to raise money to support a charity that helps vulnerable women and families in Derby.
The firm’s We Matter employee council recently organised a charity ‘pedalathon’ in aid of Women’s Work, which is Pennine’s chosen charity for 2023.
Members of the firm’s senior leadership team, employee council and operations team competed against one another on exercise bikes installed inside Pennine’s reception area to see who could cycle the furthest in eight hours.
The challenge was won by We Matter, who pedalled just over 261km on the day. In all, the teams covered 769km.
The event has so far raised more than £1,000 – with donations still being accepted at https://www.gofundme.com/f/raise-funds-in-support-of-womens-work-derbyshire .
Dan Wilson, head of marketing and communications at Pennine, said: “We were delighted to raise such a significant amount for Women’s Work and We Matter put on a brilliant charity initiative.
“We are glad we can do our bit to improving the lives of those in the local community.”
