Treetops Hospice has recognised volunteers and staff who together have provided more than 400 years of service.

The end-of-life charity, based at Risley, has presented long service awards to 70 individuals, who have given 415 years of service combined.

The awards were presented at the Treetops Winter Social, held at the hospice, to recognise those who have reach five and 10-year service milestones.

Over half the volunteers who received awards are based in the hospice’s 19 charity shops, which are located across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Income from the shops helps provide nursing care and emotional support for patients with life-limiting conditions, those who have been bereaved and their families.

Anna Bown, volunteer support co-ordinator at Treetops, said: “Volunteers are integral to each shop, helping with a wide range of roles from receiving and sorting donations, to serving customers.

“We’d love to hear from enthusiastic people with spare time on their hands to help with the key tasks that ensure each shop runs smoothly.

“You don’t need previous retail experience, and this is a perfect role for someone looking to enhance their CV, develop new skills, meet new people and have fun.”

People interested in volunteering can visit their local Treetops charity shop or contact Treetops Volunteer Services at volunteer@treetops.org.uk or call 0115 949 1264.
