New prospectus showcasing £1bn of investments launched
A brand-new prospectus, showcasing more than £1 billion of investment opportunities in Derbyshire, has been launched.
The Derbyshire Investment Prospectus, produced by Marketing Derby’s Invest in Derbyshire service on behalf of Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire Economic Partnership, provides a snapshot of the key regeneration opportunities across the county.
These range from major sites which will help drive economic prosperity and support a growing population, to smaller projects at the heart of communities.
The prospectus was recently launched at a special Marketing Derby Talking Business Live session, which featured some of the people close to the projects contained within it.
Chris Henning, executive director of place at Derbyshire County Council, said: “The prospectus is key part of our mission to encourage investors into the county – something which is critical to our post-Covid recovery strategy.
“The prospectus provides an overview of the region and some of its key schemes, many of which involve public/private sector partnerships.
“Some of these sites are real game-changers – and the prospectus is designed to inform potential investors of the opportunities that exist.”
In total, 23 projects are featured in the prospectus, spanning the length and breadth of the county.
They include major schemes, such as the Woodville Regeneration Area, Sinfin Moor, New Stanton Park, Peak Resort and Chesterfield Waterside.
At the local launch, hosted by Marketing Derby’s managing director John Forkin, attendees heard from some of the key individuals who are involved in some of the exciting schemes listed in the prospectus.
They gave an inside track on the latest opportunities and their take on why Derbyshire is a great place in which to live, work, invest and play.
Some of those opportunities exist in Chesterfield and at the launch, Dom Stevens, manager at Destination Chesterfield, ran through some of the exciting developments coming out of the ground in the town and across the borough.
They include £20 million plans to revitalise the heart of Chesterfield, the town’s Station Masterplan, the Northern Gateway, Chesterfield Waterside and The Glassyard.
Dom also mentioned the Staveley Corridor, which is a large scheme made up of commercial and residential units, with Staveley to receive £25.2 million of investment following a successful bid to Government for a Town Deal.
More details on the Chesterfield opportunities will be available at the Celebrate Chesterfield event on 23 March – to book your place, please click here.
Finally, Ben Robinson, investment director for the East Midlands at commercial property agents Innes England, gave an overview of the health of the Derbyshire property market.
He said: “Derbyshire’s property market performed well in 2021, bouncing back strongly from the lockdown in the first quarter. Total investment was over £380 million, the second highest level in a decade.
“We remain very positive about the prospects of Derbyshire going forward.”
Following the local launch, the Derbyshire Investment Prospectus will be shared with a regional, national and international investment audience at future exhibitions and events.
This week, the prospectus is being unveiled to an international audience at MIPIM, the world’s largest property investment show.
