The owners of Lotus Indian Kitchen have opened the doors to a new Indian gastro pub in Derbyshire.

Following a two-month revamp, brothers Harcharan and Sunny Chandhoke have opened The Elephant and Peacock, at Milford.

The building, which is on the A6 between Duffield and Belper, was formerly The Strutt Arms.

The new venue serves pub classics like pies, roasts, and fish and chips with a South Asian twist. Authentic Indian curries, grills and street food are served.

The pub, which has room for more than 120 diners, was temporarily shut from mid-September before it reopened last month.

The hotel remained open to guests throughout and has retained the Strutt Arms Hotel name.

Sunny said the new pub had enjoyed “steady start” since opening, with both locals and loyal customers who regularly visit the Lotus restaurant at Mercia Marina giving “excellent feedback” on the food.

He is now hoping more people come and try out the new venue, which he says offers “relaxed vibe”.

The Elephant and Peacock is open from midday to 11pm daily, with food served between 5pm and 10pm Monday to Friday and from midday to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday.
