New Frasers department store set to open next winter

A new Frasers department store at the Derbion shopping centre looks set to open next winter.

Set across three floors, the new store will boast 127,000 sq ft of retail space – and will include a beauty hall and areas dedicated to stocking men’s, women’s and children’s fashion.

A Sports Direct store will also operate on one of the three floors.

The unit, which is the centre’s biggest, was formerly occupied by Debenhams for more than a decade before it closed in May.

Following its closure, a deal was announced, which saw Frasers Group take over the unit.

Now, work to transform the store is set to get underway this summer, ahead of an opening which has been pencilled in for towards the end of the year.

As part of the same deal, Flannels opened on Level 2 of the centre in mid-December.

Adam Tamsett, general manager at Derbion, said: “As part of the significant leasing deal announced last year with the Frasers Group, we have already welcomed Flannels into Derbion to great success in December.

“Work to transform the newly announced Jack Wills unit will also begin this month and is expected to open late spring.

“Development of Frasers is expected to begin this summer and we hope that it will be open this winter.”
