Derby City Council has teamed up with Derbyshire Dales District Council to launch an e-learning tool to encourage greener habits.

Developed with support from the Midlands Net Zero Hub and funded by Innovate UK, the new tool will be integrated into the sustainability engagement programme, Green Rewards.

The Green Rewards programme is a web and mobile app-based programme available to all residents in Derby and Derbyshire Dales postcodes for free.

It incentivises sustainable behaviours by awarding points to residents who log their actions, with monthly prizes for the members that earn the most points.

This latest expansion, titled the Green Home Guide, introduces an interactive digital house where members can earn points for clicking through rooms to discover practical sustainability tips, such as insulation guidance and water-saving habits.

Councillor Carmel Swan, Cabinet Member for Climate Change, Transport and Sustainability said: ”Encouraging sustainable action at home is key to meeting our environmental goals.

“The Green Home Guide makes it engaging for residents to learn about the simple changes they can make for a greener future. I’d encourage everyone in the city to get involved, earn points and do their bit for our climate.”

The programme also features enhanced user customisation, allowing members more in-depth focus on specific sustainable topics including biodiversity, food waste, and home energy.

Residents can sign up for the programme at the Derbyshire Green Rewards website.
