A new lottery which aims to raise money for good causes has been launched by Community Action Derby.

Following a launch event held last week, tickets are now available to buy for the first ever Derby Community Lottery.

It offers players to chance to win prizes while helping to support worthy causes.

With a weekly jackpot of £25,000, plus additional prizes of £2,000, £250, £25 and special Super Draw prizes, participants can support their community and potentially walk away with incredible winnings.

The launch event brought together a diverse group of local charities, sports clubs, PTAs, and other not-for-profit organisations, all looking to learn how the lottery can help power their fundraising efforts.

Good causes across Derby are encouraged to join the movement and start benefiting.

According to Community Action Derby, there is no cap on how many can participate, so any not-for-profit organisation looking to secure additional funding is welcome to get involved.

Each participating cause will be provided with its own dedicated webpage, where supporters can purchase tickets.

For every £1 ticket sold, the chosen cause will receive 50p, and an additional 10p will contribute to a central fund that will be distributed to more good causes in the community.

Paul Brookhouse, manager of Derby Food 4 Thought Alliance, which has already signed up, said: “We are really excited to have signed up as a good cause to Derby Community Lottery.

“It is great how good causes will benefit from the lottery, meaning that whenever someone buys a ticket, they can choose to donate 50% of their ticket, straight to us at DF4TA, partnering with us to tackle food insecurity for families and others most in need.”

Tickets are currently on sale for the first draw, which is due to take place on 5 October.

Players can purchase tickets at https://www.derbycommunitylottery.co.uk.
