Marketing apprenticeship opens door to law
An apprentice at Smith Partnership is proving how apprenticeships can land you a role in a variety of sectors, including the legal profession.
Many are used to the idea of apprentices working in the fields of construction and engineering, but some may not realise that it offers careers opportunities for marketers and lawyers too.
Among them is Sophie Shapcott, who has just completed her Level 6 Marketing Manager apprenticeship – the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree – while working for Smith Partnership solicitors in Friar Gate, Derby, where she now works as a marketing executive.
Sophie completed the apprenticeship through online learning via the Cambridge Marketing College, which was tailored to her work at the law firm.
There are currently four apprentices at Smith Partnership Solicitors, all doing law apprenticeships.
Sophie said: “I was the only one not doing a legal apprenticeship. I think it’s interesting that there are apprenticeship routes into law and Smith Partnership are just so supportive.
“A lot of people may know about accounting or marketing apprenticeships but don’t realise there are also ones for law too.”
