Law firm Flint Bishop has crowned a strong financial year-end with the appointment of a new chief operating officer.

Following the highest turnover achieved in the history of the firm, Flint’s has announced the appointment of Karen Walker as its new chief operating officer.

She arrives at Flint Bishop from Shakespeare Martineau, which she joined as chief transformation officer in April 2020 and more recently undertook the role of chief operations officer for its debt recovery department.

Her tenure was marked by transformative achievements, where she led various strategic initiatives encompassing corporate restructures, IT transformations, operational overhauls, and oversight of M&A projects.

Her appointment follows Flint Bishop achieving its strongest set of financial results to date.

For the 12 months to 30 April 2024, annual turnover climbed to £20.7 million, with total headcount surpassing 250 for the first time.

Qamer Ghafoor, chief executive at Flint Bishop, said: “I am delighted to welcome Karen to the senior leadership team.

“Her appointment is a major coup for the firm and underscores our commitment to excellence and our ambitious growth strategy.

“She will play an important role as the firm undergoes a period of further planned expansion of organic growth and upcoming acquisitions of strategically sought law firms.

“As we commence our new financial year, we have already started to see significant growth across several of our teams, and our focus on recruitment of lateral hires and experienced staff will continue at pace.

“Flint Bishop is positioned for further expansion, with a clear trajectory towards becoming a recognised national player, expanding market recognition, and solidifying its presence on a broader scale.

“It’s an exciting time for the business, and I anticipate further growth and diversification in our client base and services in the new financial year that lies ahead.”
