Hub installs life-saving equipment
Oberoi Business Hub has installed a defibrillator for its own tenants, surrounding businesses and the emergency services to administer potentially life-saving treatment.
The equipment has been installed outside the main business hub on Pride Park and is registered with East Midlands Ambulance Service.
All Oberoi Business Hub team members have also been trained on how to use the defibrillator and basic first aid to ensure they have the knowledge required to assist in an emergency situation.
Kavita Oberoi OBE, founder and managing director of Oberoi Business Hub, whose own father died of a heart attack when she was aged 15, said: “Approximately 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur every year in the UK and cardiac arrests can happen to anyone at any age.
“For every minute that goes by where a victim of sudden cardiac arrest does not receive treatment, their chance of survival decreases by 10%.
“Defibrillators, which enable a person to follow safe and simple instructions, can therefore literally mean the difference between life and death.”
