A manager at Derventio Housing Trust has won a national award for helping people into work.

Julie Howells, head of employability services at Derventio, was recently named Frontline Manager of the Year at the Employment Related Services Association (ERSA) Awards.

The awards celebrate the unsung heroes who work to improve the lives of jobseekers, communities and the wider workforce across the UK.

Derventio Housing Trust provides housing, support and specialist projects to people going through troubled times in their lives.

As part of her role, Julie set up three services, each with the aim of helping people get economically active again.

Jackie Carpenter, assistant director of strategy at Derventio, said: “We are absolutely over the moon to see Julie’s hard work, dedication and amazing qualities justly rewarded.”

Julie said she was “blown away” to have won the award, adding: “I’m overwhelmed, but without my team nothing would be possible. They make me proud every single day.”
