A renowned harpist has been impressing hospital patients with her talent, thanks to Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity.

Tamsin Elliott recently visited Royal Derby Hospital to perform for patients being cared for in its Combined Day Unit.

The special performance, which was organised by the charity’s Air Arts Team, sought to uplift patients’ spirits through the relaxing sounds of the harp.

As a musician in residence at University Hospitals in Bristol and Weston NHS Trust, Tamsin composes meditative pieces and blends them with traditional music to bring moments of calm to patients, staff and visitors.

Her performances are part of a special Music for Hospitals tour.

Jill Matthews, chief officer for Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity, said: “We were thrilled to have Tamsin join us and give such a beautiful and uplifting performance for our patients.

“The feedback from staff and patients has been brilliant as everyone recognises the calming effect that music can have.”
