First phase of reimagined WWII attraction opens

The first phase of an iconic visitor experience in Gibraltar, reimagined and redesigned by themed attraction designer Katapult, has opened to the public.
A year ago, the Derby firm announced it had been appointed to enhance The World War II Tunnel Experience.

Since then, it has been working alongside Wright Tech Media to make improvements to the attraction, which is now called The Tunnels: Gibraltar’s WWII Experience.
During the Second World War, Gibraltar became a crucial stronghold and a site of great strategic importance.
Beneath its surface, an extensive network of tunnels was carved into the limestone, creating an underground city.
The first phase of improvements overseen by Katapult and Wright Tech Media, include the installation of a replica Spitfire, a ‘Spy Academy’ experience and a new guest experience.
In a statement, Katapult said: “The Tunnels, Gibraltar’s World War II Experience is an iconic and well-visited attraction on the island of Gibraltar, with fascinating stories to tell of its strategic importance to the British resistance.
“We were delighted to work alongside experience operators, Wright Tech Media, to reimagine the stories and experiences in the tunnels.”
