A charitable foundation set up by the owner of Oberoi Business Hub has pledged financial support to an organisation that supports women who have experienced domestic abuse, honour-based violence and forced marriage.

The Oberoi Foundation, set up by Derby-based entrepreneur Kavita Oberoi OBE, has awarded a grant to The Circle, a global feminist organisation that supports frontline grassroots organisations in the UK and some of the world’s most vulnerable countries to tackle gender-based violence.

Funding from the foundation will support Sikh Women’s Aid, allowing it to expand the specialist domestic abuse support it provides to Sikh and South Asian women.

Thanks to the foundation’s support, around 100 women and children will be supported on a one-to-one basis over the next 12 months with more than 200 more supported on the charity’s helpline.

Kavita said: “I am particularly pleased to be supporting a Midlands-based organisation, which is supporting women who are facing such challenges in their lives.

“We were also happy to channel the work through The Circle, which is a fantastic national and international power for good.”
