England cricketers set for 2023 return
The England Women cricket team are set to return to Derbyshire County Cricket Club’s ground next year to take on Sri Lanka.
The Incora County Ground will host the Vitality IT20 clash, which will take place on Wednesday 6 September.
England have lost only once at Derby since 2017, with the ground becoming one of the premiere venues for women’s international cricket in the country, having hosted clashes against India, West Indies, New Zealand and South Africa in recent years.
England will take on a Sri Lanka side boasting the likes of Chamari Athapaththu, who is ranked in the ICC’s top 10 IT20 batters and all-rounders, with almost 5,000 international runs to her name.
The hosts will look to the top two international T20 bowlers in the world, in Sophie Ecclestone and Derbyshire-born Sarah Glenn, as well as the world-class talents of Katherine Brunt, Nat Sciver and Sophia Dunkley.
