EMR hails success of bidding app

East Midlands Railways has said that more than 25,000 customers have taken advantage of a bidding app, which allows them to save 60% on a First Class ticket.

The Seatfrog app allows Standard Class customers to bid for a First Class upgrade via an auction.

The bids are free and those who are successful get the upgraded ticket sent to their phone.

According to EMR, since its launch six months ago, 25,510 customers have used the Seatfrog service.

Simon Pready, commercial director at EMR, said: “Seatfrog is proving to be very popular with customers who want the flexibility to upgrade to First Class on short notice and bid for tickets at a price they are willing to pay.

“If you are travelling with us and considering First Class, please take the time to check it out – you could get a bargain.”
