Derby’s buses have been named as the best in the country for customer satisfaction after a recent study.

The study gathered the experiences of thousands of passengers during 2024. Derby’s buses had a satisfaction rate of 92 percent, compared to an overall figure of 83 per cent in the second year of the Your Bus Journey survey.

Councillor Carmel Swan, cabinet member for climate change, transport and sustainability at Derby City Council said: “I’m delighted with the results of the 2024 Your Bus Journey survey, putting Derby on the map as an accessible place to live, work and visit.

“Recently, we have been investing significantly into our public transport, and I’m very proud of what we’ve been able to achieve by working in collaboration with partners by putting passenger’s needs at the heart of what we do.”

Derby also topped the list for journey time satisfaction.

Tom Morgan, managing director for Trentbarton, which is responsible for operating many of Derby and Derbyshire’s bus services said: “It’s fantastic to hear that passengers in Derby have the best customer satisfaction for buses in the country and we’re thrilled to play a part in that.

“Also playing a vital role in this ongoing success is the common vision and teamwork between Trentbarton, other operators and the local authorities in the communities we serve. Working together, we can prioritise buses on our roads to improve punctuality and reliability to attract even more customers to travel by bus which will bring benefits to all through reduced congestion and improved air quality.”
