Derby schemes triumph at regional property awards

Major developments in Derby have enjoyed success at a set of regional property awards.

At the recent East Midlands Property Dinner awards, organised by Insider Media, schemes in Derby carried off three awards.

In the Construction Project of the Year category, the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre Midlands came out on top.

Built by Stepnell Construction and home to Nuclear AMRC on Infinity Park Derby, the award was received on the night by partners on the project including Councillor Nadine Peatfield, deputy leader of Derby City Council and Mark Bielby of March Property Developments.

Carrying off the Residential Developer of the Year title was Wavensmere Homes, the company behind the £175 million Nightingale Quarter residential scheme – as well as the proposed transformation of Friar Gate Goods Yard and the planned Cathedral One apartments scheme in the Cathedral Quarter.

And Property Deal of the Year went to the University of Derby’s £70 million bond sale, which raised funds for its new Business School, which is currently under construction.

With Marketing Derby joining the sponsor line-up for the event, Christopher Tebbs, inward investment executive, said “The East Midlands Property Dinner awards always shine a light on the best designs and developments in the East Midlands and showcase the talent in our region’s property sector.

“It was pleasing to see Derby receiving recognition for three schemes which are important contributors to the development of the city and its economy. Congratulations to all the winners.”

Elsewhere, One Waterside Place, in Chesterfield was highly commended in the Regeneration and Restoration Project of the Year category.

Other Derby projects which were shortlisted included The Condor, Derby’s first ever built-to-rent apartments scheme operated by Grainger plc, which was delivered by partners including St James Securities, Derby City Council and Rodgers Leask and HelloFresh’s 434,000 sq ft distribution centre at SmartParc SEGRO Derby.

The university and Rolls-Royce were also shortlisted for the Skills and Apprenticeship Scheme Award for the Nuclear Skills Academy.

Bondholder Bowmer + Kirkland was part of the team awarded Sustainable Development of the Year for Power Park in Nottingham.
