DCG students enjoy educational adventure in Boston

Students from Derby College Group (DCG) have been stateside as part of the Turing Mobility Programme
The programme, funded by the Turing Scheme, is designed to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds or those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), providing them with invaluable exposure to higher education and careers in sport.

Each student secured their place by raising £500, demonstrating their dedication to embracing this unique opportunity.
During their time in Boston, students engaged with the city’s rich sporting and academic heritage, including a visit to Paul Revere’s Trail, tours of Boston University, Harvard and MIT and experiences of elite-level sport with Boston Celtic and ice skating at Warrior Arena.
The Turing Scheme provides UK students with access to international study and work placements, enriching their academic and career journeys.

Nick Ramsden, assistant principal at Derby College Group, spoke about the lasting impact of the programme: “This opportunity is truly transformative. For many of our students, visiting world-class institutions such as Harvard and MIT, and engaging with professional sporting environments, is something they never thought possible.
“The Turing Mobility Programme is giving them the confidence to set higher aspirations and believe in their abilities. The experiences they are gaining will have a profound effect on their future ambitions.”
