Conferencing and events offer to be showcased at major exhibition
Marketing Derby Bondholders involved in the conferencing and events industry are set to showcase their offer at a major industry exhibition.
Led by Visit Derby, they will have a presence at this year’s CHS Birmingham event, which takes place at the ICC Birmingham on 31 October.
The exhibition provides a showcase for the very best events and hospitality venues in the region.
It will be the first time that Derby will have exhibited as it looks to sell itself as a place for conferences, meetings and events.
The city has decided to attend this year because of the recent, current and future changes within the city centre.
And it will go to the event with a powerful offer, backed by a number of Bondholders involved in the sector.
They include Derby Museums’ multi-award winning Museum of Making, which features its stunning Italian Mill space.
Other partners on the Derby stand include Derby Arena, Derby Conference Centre and Derbyshire County Cricket Club’s Incora County Ground.
They will be joined by the Leonardo Hotel Derby and Holiday Inn Derby Riverlights, as well as the eclectic former Chocolate Factory, which is home to Bustler Market. At CHS, delegates will also find out more about Derby’s new 3,500 capacity performance and conference venue, which is currently being constructed at Becketwell.
The new venue, which will be handed over in late 2024, will be managed by world-leading venue operator ASM Global.
Stella Birks, Derby’s visitor economy development manager, said: “We’re delighted to be attending CHS in Birmingham to promote Derby as a great place to hold conferences and events.
“It’s a long time since we could attend a show such as this and it’s great to be going with some brilliant stand partners who can really help us put the city on the map.
“We’ve such a lot to shout about with venues that will be new to the buyers, including the stunning Italian Mill at the Museum of Making and the soon to be built 3,500 capacity Becketwell Arena, which will open up a whole host of new opportunities.
“Bringing more conferences and events to Derby will support all sorts of businesses and help bring vibrancy and footfall back to the streets.
“Our strengths are in location and the wide variety of venues and experiences we have to offer, from culture in the city to wellbeing and thrill seeking in the glorious Derbyshire countryside.”
