Marketing Derby Bondholders are helping to transform the lives of refugees by partnering with an innovative cleaning company set up by Upbeat Communities.

Derby County Community Trust and Althaus have become the latest organisations to transfer their cleaning contracts to Upbeat Clean, a commercial cleaning start-up, which has been supporting refugees to rebuild their lives for the last 16 years.

Upbeat Clean combines cleaning services with life changing employment, enabling Derby’s refugee community to access training and rebuild their lives through real living wage employment.

Michael Gladwell, head of enterprise at Upbeat Communities, said he was delighted to support two more Bondholders who “share the same values and want to make a positive difference in the city”.

Upbeat Communities works across the East Midlands supporting refugees and those seeking asylum to integrate into life in the UK and empowering them to thrive.

In addition to its focus of supporting individuals into employment, the charity provides a range of services, including English classes, one-to-one advice and guidance, social activities, therapeutic services and community building initiatives.

Andrew Jackson, chief executive of Upbeat Communities, said: “Upbeat Communities exists to empower refugees to thrive, and we achieve this by providing holistic support provision tailored to the individual.

“It’s wonderful to see Bondholders supporting the integration of refugees through employment.

“For those arriving in a new country and wanting to rebuild their lives, finding meaningful work is recognised as a step that significantly speeds up integration.”
