BIDs team up for big spring clean
Businesses in the Cathedral Quarter and St Peters Quarter BIDs are being urged to help tidying up their areas in support of the Great British Spring Clean.
Today, cleaning activity will take place in the Cathedral Quarter – with attention then turning to the St Peters Quarter on Thursday.
Supported by Derbyshire Police, Derby City Council’s Streetpride team, local councillors and Public Protection Officers, they will be jet washing and tidying the city centre streets, picking up litter and removing gum from the pavements.
During the rest of the Great British Spring Clean period, which runs until 2 April, the BID team, partnered by the city council, will undertake tasks such as sticker and fly-poster removal, weeding, window cleaning of vacant units, jet washing and gum removal.
Local businesses will also be sprucing up their own business frontages with general cleaning activities.
Gemma Pindard, project executive for the St Peters Quarter BID, said: “It is so gratifying to see so many of our local businesses coming together. We are grateful for their terrific support.
“In February, we organised a Tidy Day, and this was extremely well attended, but I know this Great British Spring Clean event will attract even more support. I would love to see as many new businesses as possible coming along.”
