Arts team scoops award for national project
Derby & Burton Hospital Charity’s Air Arts Team has been recognised for its involvement in a national project which celebrated the NHS through art.
It was one of 19 trusts to receive an award from the Royal Society for Public Health for the team’s involvement in ‘Our National Health Stories’.
The project saw trusts across England, including The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, work with a creative team led by artistic director Kwame Kwei-Armah OBE.
Laura Waters, Derby & Burton Hospitals Charity’s head of arts, said: “We are delighted that the project we worked on has been recognised by The Royal Society for Public Health.
“Being part of an award-winning project, which produced a collection of powerful and moving stories about the NHS, in celebration of its 75th anniversary, makes me very proud of the work we do.
“Each unique story was told through artwork of all different forms. There was music, poetry, drawings, paintings and a film developed during a six-month nationwide engagement programme by and with staff.”
