Morrison Design is celebrating after being appointed architects for an extensive refurbishment of a prestigious private members’ club in London’s Mayfair.

The firm has been chosen to revamp The Sloane Club.

The historic venue was founded by Princess Helena, daughter of Queen Victoria, in 1922 as the Service Women’s Club.

Membership was opened to men in 1976. In 2017 the club was acquired by Morrison Design’s longstanding client Queensway

The refurbishment includes 56 bedrooms and 10 suites, a new fitness and wellness space, a co-working space and reception lounge, as well as three new restaurants, a bar, private events spaces and an all-season roof terrace.

Les Witten, associate director at Morrison Design, said: “We’re thrilled to be working on such a prestigious members’ club with a long and pioneering history.

“The refurbishment will see the spaces completely transformed and ready to welcome a younger and more cosmopolitan clientele.”
