Marathon effort in aid of YMCA

Staff at Rhodes Wealth Management have been raising cash for YMCA Derbyshire by running, walking or cycling almost 2,400km.

During the summer, the team, based in Brailsford, completed the equivalent distance of 56 marathons as part of YMCA’s 56 for the 56% campaign.

They have so far raised £1,700 after being inspired by a consultation with young people living at YMCA Derbyshire, which showed that 56% struggle with their mental health.

YMCA has been striving to provide young people with extra counselling, one-to-one advice sessions, emergency food parcels and fun online activities during the pandemic.

The 56 for the 56% campaign has raised funds for more wellbeing provisions, including access to gyms, five-a-side football evenings, structured work-based programmes with youth workers and equipment for gardening and cooking.

Fundraisers were asked to take the numbers five and six, create a challenge and gain sponsorship for completing it.

Tristan Gilbody, operations director at Rhodes Wealth Management, said: “We have a team ethos at Rhodes and it was brilliant to work together to raise funds.”
