Food and Drink Awards to crown best new kid on the block
This year’s Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards attracted a number of high-quality nominations – none-more-so than for the Best Newcomer category.
While the pandemic hit the food and drink industry hard, it saw a number of new businesses emerge whose offer was tailored to the changes in our lives.
The Best Newcomer category attracted a number of high-quality entries – so much so, that instead of selecting three finalists, the judges selected four.
Vying for the title this year will be Generations Takeaway, The Hole in the Wall, at Mickleover, Let’s Taco ‘Bout It and Sacred Bean Coffee.
The award is being judged by category sponsor DBC Training, with the winner being announced at a glittering awards evening, which is set to take place at the Chocolate Factory on Monday 18 October.
They will be looking to crown a business that offers great service, a good menu selection (food or drink) and an enthusiasm to succeed.
Back in 2019, when the awards were last held, the Best Newcomer title went to The Creaky Floorboard.
In a statement issued shortly after that 2019 win, the business said: “I can’t tell you how much this means to us.
“We were thrilled to have got to the final but to have won has made us so very proud.”
This year, more than 3,000 nominations were received for the Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards from members of the public, business leaders and food and drink establishment owners.
Each award, apart from Excellence in Customer Service, is judged by its category sponsor.
The overall Marketing Derby Food and Drink Awards Winner for 2021, sponsored by Denby Pottery, and the award for Outstanding Achievement, sponsored by Royal Crown Derby, will also be revealed at the awards night.
