The cultural hub, in the Market Place, has appointed Vivek Malhotra to the role.

Vivek comes with a wealth of experience gained in over three decades of senior leadership roles in the arts and cultural sector, which includes capital developments.

In recent years, he has worked at the Hampshire Cultural Trust and New Art Exchange in Nottingham; and led capital projects at the National Army Museum, Black Cultural Archives, Nottingham Contemporary, and the Grove Theatre in South Bedfordshire.

He said: “This is an exciting time for QUAD and I am looking forward to leading the team during a period of change and continuing the excellent work of the organisation.”

Brian Walsh OBE, QUAD’s chair of the board of trustees, said: “I am pleased to welcome Vivek Malhotra as the interim CEO to QUAD for a six-month period while Adam Buss, our permanent CEO, will be seconded to Derby City Council to lead on the City of Culture bid.

“Vivek joins QUAD with a wealth of experience across the arts, film and performance sectors and we all welcome him and wish him the very best in this position.”

Adam, who is director of City of Culture bid, said: “City of Culture 2025 is a huge opportunity for Derby and as part of that for QUAD, as a leading cultural organisation in the city.

“A central theme of Derby’s bid for City of Culture is ‘Building from within’, which is a recognition that Derby is brimming with talent, and we want to support and develop that to create a strong legacy for the future.

“QUAD has always led the way through its exploration of contemporary art, independent film and digital media and all of those elements will have to be key components of a successful, diverse and inclusive city of culture programme.”
