Developer’s ram helps it build relationship with school
Compendium Living, the developer behind the £100 million Castleward regeneration, is building a relationship with a city school thanks to the Derby Ram Trail.
The regeneration specialist recently hosted an art workshop for pupils from Dale Community Primary School at its Ram Trail ram, one of 30 five-foot-tall rams, which are currently dotted around the city centre.
Compendium has sponsored the ram, nicknamed Baaaaaarley, which has been brought to life by local artist Carla Matthews, who specialises in cute and cartoon-like designs.
The workshop, which was led by Carla, saw the children have a go at ‘kawaii’ art, which is a Japanese art style.
Wendy Lister, project manager at Compendium Living, said: “We were delighted to put on an art workshop for the children of Dale Community Primary School and couldn’t be happier to hear how much they enjoyed themselves.
“Having the local community be a part of our Derby Ram Trail sponsorship has made the experience even more enjoyable and we’re thrilled at how popular Baaaaaarley has been so far.”
Throughout the summer holidays, Compendium Living is running a colouring competition for children to download a blank template and design their own ram.
From now until the end of the ram trail on 22 August, it is also hosting a monthly selfie competition where participants are in with a chance of winning vouchers for local businesses.
