Law firm reveals key role in SureScreen expansion
Smith Partnership has revealed the part it played in helping Covid-19 testing manufacturer SureScreen realise their expansion plans.
The law firm acted for SureScreen during its recent move to an 80,000 sq ft production and distribution hub at Sherwood Business Park, near the M1.
SureScreen has fulfilled orders for rapid antigen tests to the UK government, as well as exports to 53 countries and principalities around the world.
Its new hub will allow it to take on more than 1,000 new staff.
Danielle Upton, an associate in Smith Partnership’s commercial property division, who advises clients across the East Midlands and nationally on a full range of commercial property transactions, helped SureScreen conclude its contract.
She said: “Because of the nature of SureScreen’s UK government order, it was important that the transaction was progressed as speedily and efficiently as possible.
“I quickly developed a proficient and productive working relationship with the seller’s solicitor, a leading London firm, allowing us to conclude the transaction swiftly and in line with SureScreen’s commercial commitments.
“The transaction was complex and required pragmatic analysis and creative, workable solutions to the issues which were encountered.
“It was a privilege to act on this transaction, especially as SureScreen is a Derby-based firm and in the frontline in the fight against Covid-19.
“I am proud that this expansion is also estimated to create over 1,000 new jobs in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire once the site is fully operational.
“I have acted previously for SureScreen in connection with their occupation of three units in Derby and look forward to continuing to work together in the future.”
