EMR’s ram has sense of community
One of the Derby Ram Trail rams – backed by East Midlands Railway – is proving a hit with passengers.
The train operator teamed up with Community Rail Partnerships from both Derwent Valley and North Staffordshire lines to sponsor the five-foot-tall ram, with is situated outside Derby Midland Station.
It is one of 30 rams dotted around the city as part of the Derby Ram Trail, organised by Derby Museums, which runs until 22 August.
Designed by local artist Holly Aspinall, the ram at the station depicts visitor attractions near stations along the Derwent Valley and North Staffordshire lines.
Also represented are the teams of volunteer station adopters that help to look after each station.
Donna Adams, community engagement manager at EMR, said: “There are many ways in which Community Rail benefits local communities, and we wanted our ram to represent this.
“We hope passengers travelling through Derby this summer will come and visit our ram outside the station.”
