DIS secures three-year deal to support local athletes
Derbyshire Institute of Sport has secured a three-year sponsorship deal with a minerals company to support young athletes.
LKAB Minerals signed the deal with DIS, which will run up to the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics.
The processes and manufactures minerals in 11 countries around the world, and has its UK head office in Raynesway, Derby. It supplies industrial minerals for a range of industries, from water treatment to construction.
Sponsorship from businesses such as LKAB Minerals, will allow DIS to support more talented youngsters with services such as nutrition, performance psychology, physiotherapy and strength and conditioning training.
Chloe Maudsley, managing director of DIS, said: “This commitment is so valuable to the young athletes we support.
“This summer we have 10 athletes who have worked with us heading out to the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
“Our target is to have even more homegrown talent flying the flag for Team GB and Derbyshire in Paris in 2024.”
Almost 30 businesses currently sponsor DIS and they receive a unique package of benefits in return for their support.
