Charity teams up with rugby legends for fund-raising weekend

Derby City Mission, together with 100 World Rugby Legends, is organising a fundraising weekend in Derby for the benefit of both causes.

Taking place on Friday 6th August and Saturday 7th August, the weekend will include golf, live entertainment, food and rugby.

It will begin on the Friday with a golf competition at Chevin Golf Club, Duffield, followed by an evening event at the George & Dragon Hotel, in Belper.

Companies are invited to enter teams of three to play golf and each team will be joined by a rugby legend.

Then, in the evening, the legends will be hosting a barbecue with a live band at the George and Dragon, in Bridge Street.

On the Saturday, there will be a Legends 10s tournament, followed by a showing of the British & Irish Lions’ third test match against South Africa at Derby Rugby Club.

The Legends will take part in the charity rugby tournament, featuring local teams and the ‘Wooden Spoon’ national vets team.

As well as the rugby, there will be the stalls, a bouncy castle, face painting, a barbecue and an all-day bar.



Rugby legends attending the weekend include Serge Betsen of France, Allan Bateman of Wales and the British Lions, Shane Byrne of Ireland and the British Lions, Delon Armitage of England, and Thom Evans of Scotland and Strictly Come Dancing fame.
