Securing two nominations for the Midlands region is doughnut-maker Project D.

The business, which has its bakery in Derby, has been shortlisted in the Scale-Up and Food and Drink Entrepreneur of the Year categories.

Project D, which was founded by Jacob Watts, Max Poynton and Matthew Bond, has enjoyed phenomenal growth, despite the pandemic, and now supplies its doughnuts to customers across the country.

The Swap Shop, which was founded in Derby by Rachel Hayward, of Ask the Chameleon, Dean Jackson, from HUUB and Lee Marples, from Think3, is shortlisted in the Start-Up of the Year category.

The free swapping service, which earlier this year was named as Marketing Derby’s Rising Star, has helped many SMEs across the country get through the pandemic.

And finally, Ed Hollands, founder of DrivenMedia, will fly the flag for Derby in the Service Industries Entrepreneur of the Year category.

Organisers of the awards are now hoping to stage an in-person Midlands awards ceremony in September.
