Architects move to new studio at historic mills
Derby architects Morrison Design has moved to a new studio at Darley Abbey Mills.
The firm, which was founded in 1948 by war veteran Sam Morrison, has relocated from St Alkmunds House, in Belper Road, to the Long Mill at the historic mills complex next to the River Derwent.
Morrison Design provides architectural design, planning and project management services on commercial design and build and refurbishment projects for hotels, schools, fire stations and company offices and manufacturing facilities.
As the world starts to head back into the office, the firm wanted to find a space that was open, inspiring and brought the team together.
Company directors Peter Newman-Earp, David Gardner and Nik Clarke wanted a studio to reflect the vision of the business – to create and deliver ‘mind-blowing’ spaces.
Nik said: “We collaborate on our projects here at Morrison Design and put our team at the heart of what we do.
“Therefore, when we started looking for a new local office, we knew we had to find one with character, space and an innovative approach.
“Darley Abbey Mills has all of this – and we’re really excited to move in.”
Darley Abbey Mills are a collection of historic mill buildings dating back to the late 1700s.
The buildings have been sympathetically restored to create highly individual workplaces.
