Derby Property Summit: Meet keynote speaker Paul Morris
A director at the firm driving the £200 million regeneration of the Becketwell area of the city centre has been lined up as a keynote speaker at the forthcoming Derby Property Summit.
Paul Morris, development director at St James Securities, will speak at the event, set to take place on Wednesday 14th July, which will showcase the city’s investment pipeline and future opportunities.
Built across a number of phases, Becketwell is a regeneration project that is currently enjoying some real momentum.
This long-awaited mixed-use development, right in the heart of the city centre, is set to deliver new homes, offices, public space and a stunning new performance venue.
Phase one involves the construction of 259 build-to-rent apartments, along with a new public square.
Becketwell was boosted by the recent news that Grainger plc, the UK’s largest listed provider of private rental homes, had agreed to forward fund, acquire, and operate the build-to-rent element of the scheme at a cost of £37.375 million. Read more here.
The second phase will involve creating a new 3,500-capacity performance venue – and recently it was announced that ASM Global had been named as preferred bidder to operate and manage it.
The regeneration of Becketwell is expected to bring numerous benefits to the city, including a repopulation of both office workers and residents to the city centre, which will help boost activity outside of traditional retail hours.
It is also hoped that the substantial levels of investment proposed at Becketwell will provide confidence for further new investment in surrounding areas of the city centre.
More than 2,000 jobs are expected to be created by the development.
At the Derby Property Summit, Paul will explain why St James Securities decided to invest in Derby, after delivering similar successful projects in Sheffield and Leeds.
He will also talk about how his firm is working closely with Derby City Council to deliver this transformational scheme – and what we can expect going forward.
Registrations are now open for the Derby Property Summit, which this year will be a hybrid event.
Once again, business journalist Declan Curry will assume hosting duties – and will be joined by speakers, including Paul, along with Derby City Council chief executive Paul Simpson, as well as a representative from Cale Street, owners of Derbion.
The networking element will take place in the award-winning Market Place Al Fresco Dining Experience, with the conference held in the comfort of the QUAD cinema.
For safety and to facilitate quality networking, numbers will be limited to 120 delegates attending in person, with unlimited numbers online.
Tickets to the live event and face-to-face networking area are limited to event sponsors. To find out more about sponsorship opportunities e-mail Katie Wells at katie.wells@marketingderby.co.uk.
