Derbyshire Institute of Sport has launched its latest programme designed to help sports clubs and teams enhance physical and mental performance.

Unity is spearheaded by the world-class coaching team at DIS, which delivers services including strength and conditioning, physiotherapy and injury prevention, performance psychology, mental fitness, and performance nutrition to elite athletes.

Now, these same coaches can use their skills and knowledge to train clubs, teams and squads who compete at any level.

Managing director Chloe Maudsley said: “We have worked with athletes who have become world champions and now we want to offer our world-class services to clubs and other sporting organisations.

“Training together as a team is vital to success but the Unity programme can provide a real competitive edge.

“Already, Etwall Eagles Swimming Club, Rounders England and Leicestershire and Rutland Sport have begun working with DIS through the Unity programme.”

According to Chloe, there are options to suit clubs and organisations of all sizes and types.

She said: “We take pride in seeing our athletes achieve their goals.

“In recent weeks, four athletes who have worked with us have been confirmed for this year’s Tokyo Olympics: marathon runners Ben Connor and Jess Piasecki and swimmers Molly Renshaw and Abbie Wood.

“We can’t wait to help clubs and teams and see them progress and achieve their full potential too.”

There are three key elements to the Unity package: strength and conditioning, mental fitness, and education.

Chloe said: “We begin by finding out about your group and its players/athletes.

“The sessions we run will be tailor-made to the needs of your group members.

“With all the services in one place, you don’t have to keep looking for the right practitioners – we have them all here.”

Teams can choose from a range of training sessions and webinars delivered online or in person, adhering to all current Covid guidelines.
